Responsible Sourcing

Because change begins at the start of the supply chain

From the conception of our Husky Brands, “socially responsibility” has been important to our team and our market.

We believe it is the responsibility of every individual to be a good citizen, and while being a small player in a global market can at times be daunting, we believe our impact on human rights can be just as significant as larger operations and that we can all make a difference. We achieve this through our strong moral conduct and ongoing education, even including QR codes on our labels.

For this reason, we have implemented a Responsible Sourcing Strategy for a  zero tolerance position around bonded labour which unfortunately is inherent in some sourcing countries.

We have a Child Labour Remediation protocol and worked to reduce the risk and vulnerabilities of women in the apparel supply chain, particularly in the lower tiers, by strictly only buying from suppliers who have employed an experienced Ethical Sourcing specialist.

Since 2016 our key supply partners have been part of the Child Labor Free Initiative.

This program was important to us in terms of raising our awareness of risks and remediation. This year we have decided to join the Amfori BSCI initiative, which incorporates a Code of Conduct including environmental sustainability.

Through sourcing from members of this program only, we are be in a better position to support our suppliers with tried and tested training programs and we will have access to word class standards and tools to improve our own processes of supply chain mapping, monitoring, and remediation.

AMFORI BSCI – Business Social Compliance Initiative.

The Amfori BSCI initiative, which incorporates all of our Code of Conduct including environmental sustainability. The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains. It’s an independently audited, step-by-step approach for a better workplace.

Through sourcing from key suppliers involved in this program, we will be in a better position to support our suppliers with tried and tested training programs and we will have access to word class standards and tools to improve our own processes of supply chain mapping, monitoring, and remediation.

For a growing Australian business, the opportunity to tap into a network of international like-minded brands will be invaluable in terms of shared learnings, experiences and increased leverage with suppliers. In addition, we understand that success in addressing the more complex issues involved with Modern Slavery cannot be achieved independently and therefore a collaborative approach is essential in developing solutions.

Through sourcing from members of Amfori we believe is an important step towards this.

HOW WE SOURCE – WE SELECT LIKE-MINDED SUPPLIERS.

The key to our sourcing is finding the right people/companies with the right values. Auditing factories and developing management systems and policies is important to providing an ethical sourcing framework, more important is to find and work with factory owners and management and suppliers who share our values, operate a culture of dignity and respect, are in for the long term, and who like us we are willing to embrace change and continuous improvement.
